Editorial Policy

How we research, write, and stand behind our content.

NailMuse is independent. We're not owned by a polish brand, a salon chain, or a beauty conglomerate. Every piece of content on this site is written, edited, and reviewed for accuracy by our editorial team — not by AI alone, not by sponsors.

Our research process

Every article starts with primary research: studying current trends across Pinterest, Instagram, professional nail forums, and salons we follow worldwide. For technical or health-related topics, we cross-reference at least three credible sources — peer-reviewed dermatology journals, manufacturer technical data, statements from licensed nail technicians, and editorial coverage in publications like Allure, Harper's Bazaar, InStyle, and Vogue.

Trend coverage

Trend articles reflect what's actually being saved, searched, and tried — not what brands want us to push. We update trend articles seasonally to keep them accurate, and we mark the year clearly in the title so you always know what era we're talking about.

Health and safety content

Articles about nail health (yellow nails, ridges, white spots, slow growth) are editorial — not medical. We summarize what credible dermatology sources say, but we always recommend you see a licensed professional for personal concerns. We do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace medical advice.

Independence and conflicts of interest

NailMuse does not currently run sponsored content, paid product reviews, or affiliate links in articles. Product mentions are based on editorial merit — what real nail professionals and enthusiasts use, not what a brand paid for. If this ever changes, we will disclose any commercial relationship clearly at the top of the affected article.

Inspiration images credited to nail artists on Instagram are used with attribution. If you're an artist who would like an image credited differently or removed, email hello@nailmuse.com.

Corrections

We make mistakes. When we do, we correct them. Spotted an error? Email us and we'll investigate within 48 hours. Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the article with the date of update.

Updates and freshness

Articles include a published date and, where relevant, a last-updated date. Trend coverage is refreshed at least quarterly. Evergreen guides are reviewed annually.

Authorship

Articles are bylined to "NailMuse Editorial" when produced by our in-house team, or to a named contributor when written by a guest expert (always with their credentials listed).
